This guide provides content formatting best practices for Projects and the Answer Library.
Scenario: Bullets
While importing documents or copying and pasting content into the Answer Library, if there are any bullets present in the answer, the formatting will be changed to the default Responsive bullet type (Disc).
Tip:
After uploading or pasting content into the Answer Library, you may modify the bullet type to any of the following supported bullet types:
- Circle
- Disc
- Square

Importing Excel documents into the Answer Library, or while copying and pasting plain text content into the Answer Library, with any font family other than the default Responsive font (Source Sans Pro), will be changed to the default Responsive font.

Scenario: Images
When adding Q&A pairs in the Answer Library by copying and pasting into the Answer Library, if there are any images included in what is being copied from a file, they will not be displayed when pasted into the Answer Library.
Tip:
For answers that involve images, we recommend adding them as an attachment or embedding them into the answer field.
Scenario: Importing Excel Files
When importing Microsoft Excel files, font family, and size are not retained, but rather imported as Basic Rich Text with the default Responsive font family and size.
Tip:
- After importing the Excel file to the Answer Library, you can modify the font family and size by using the Basic Rich Text or Full Rich Text editor, depending on the Answer Type.
- During import, you can change the Answer Type to Full Rich Text. If you are exporting into a template, you can include text with images and adjust the formatting.
- You can update the formatting in bulk with the Format Text tool in the Answer Library menu.
Scenario: Developer Console Contents Not Displayed
When importing files into a project, if there are images, tables, or anything that is within the Developer console, it will not be displayed in the application.
Tip:
To maintain the images, tables, and more, we recommend removing the Content Control settings before importing the file to Responsive.
Scenario: Supported File Types (Import to Answer Library)
When importing content into the Answer Library, we only support the following file formats: DOCX, XLS, and XLSX.
Tip:
If you have a document formatted as a PDF that you would like to import into the Answer Library, we recommend converting the PDF file to a Word file (.docx) and then importing it.
Scenario: Supported Files Types (Import to Project)
When importing to a project, we only support the following file formats: DOCX, XLS, XLSX, and PDF.
Tip:
- If you have content in another format, we recommend converting it to any of the Responsive supported file types prior to import.
- If you have a PDF file and you want to export to source, you will have to convert the file to a supported file type (DOCX) prior to importing it into a project. After you export the project, you can then convert it back to a PDF.
Scenario: Tables in PDF
When uploading PDF files in the application, if there are any tables in the file they will not be displayed properly on import.
Tip:
We recommend uploading the original DOCX file or converting the PDF to DOCX prior to import.
Scenario: Embedded Files
If embedded files (other than images) are present in any of the files being imported they will not be retained or displayed in Responsive.
Tip:
We recommend including content from the embedded file in the main document prior to import.
Scenario: Hidden Columns in Excel
If hidden columns are present in the Excel file being imported, the hidden columns will not be imported to Responsive.
Tip:
We recommend importing the Excel file after unhiding the hidden columns so that these columns are also imported into Responsive.
