Overview
A hard bounce is an email that permanently bounced back to the sender because the address is invalid. A hard bounce usually occurs because:
- Recipient’s email address is missing or invalid
- Non-existence of the recipient’s domain
- Error in typing the recipient’s email address
- Blocking of the email by the recipient’s email server
- Network Issue at the recipient’s end
Scenario
Gus Wellman (Gus@responsive.io) is the project primary contact, but Gus is no longer associated with the company or his email address has been changed (Gus.Wellman@responsive.io, for example). One of the project team members is @mentioning Gus Wellman for a clarification and the email notification is bounced back because of invalid email ID.
How Responsive handles the above scenario:
- Notifications will be sent to the super-admin automatically
- Email preferences of the recipient with invalid email address will be turned off
- If the email cannot be delivered to a super-admin, Responsive support user will be notified
